Peanut Butter Treat Recipe

If you are a dog owner you know how much they love treats. They devour them so quickly, that you are left staring at the bottom of the treat bag wondering where in the world they all went. Sound familiar? Pets can be a very expensive addition to your family, but there are many ways to cut down on your pet budget. Did you know that you can make your own heathy pet treats? Here is a super yummy recipe your dogs are sure to enjoy! Peanut Butter Dog Treats Recipe:

Ingredients: :: 1/3 cup all-natural peanut butter (chunky or smooth, you don’t have to use all-natural, but that’s what I suggest since natural doesn’t have any added junk) :: 2 cups whole wheat flour (use a different flour if your dog has a wheat sensitivity) :: 1 cup old fashioned oats :: 1 and 1/4 cups hot water Amazon sells the R & M Dog Bone 4 Piece Cookie Cutter Set for $6.80. Instructions: :: Preheat oven to 350° :: Mix dry ingredients :: Add Peanut Butter and Water. (If too sticky, add a little more water) :: Knead the dough, then roll out to 1/4″ thick. :: Cut out shapes for dog treats. The shapes can be anything that you want. So you have the freedom to do something fun. For example, you can make your dog “cat-shaped” treats. smile emoticon Also, it is a great way to include your dog in any celebration. You can make Christmas dog treats, Birthday treats, Adoptaversary treats or anything you want! :: Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet for 40 minutes. Cool completely before feeding to your dog. Storage: :: Air tight container at room temperature for 1 week, refrigerator for 3 weeks or freezer for 6 months. Tip: :: You can add extra stuff to this recipe if you think it will be of benefit to your pet. For example, I would add a small amount of flax-seed oil because it promotes a healthy coat.
