The public took a little bit longer to fall in love the breed, waiting till the 1940s to catch boxer mania.

Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall are the first celebrity boxer owners. This is a picture of them taken in 1948 with Harvey, one of their three boxers. Mrs. Bacall had to say about her beloved Harvey "Harvey was really smart. He knew he wasn't allowed to get on the furniture so he would only put two paws on at a time, and he would sit between us if we had a fight." Known for their intelligence and their goofy sense of humor, Boxers have remained a family favorite since they became popular in the United States.
