1. Application
The first step in being considered to adopt a boxer from us is to fill out our application online located under the "Adopt" tab. If you found one of our dogs on Petfinder, you still need to fill out our online application as that is only an inquiry.

It may take up to two weeks before we can get your application processed. During this time, please make sure that you contact your vet and references to let them know that we will be calling. We realize that our online application can be as stubborn as a boxer and sometimes cell phones won't let you complete the form. Once you have filled out an application a copy of this letter will be emailed to you, explaining our adoption process. If you have filled out the application and did not receive this letter within 24 hours, please send an email to us at: adoption@nwboxerrescue.org.

2. Review Process
Once your application has been reviewed, you will be called by a member of our adoption team. You may be asked to clarify information submitted on your adoption application, verify references and their phone numbers. If we are unable to reach you we will leave a voicemail. It will then be your responsibility to return the call of our volunteer.

3. Phone Interview/s
When we have a boxer that would be a great fit for you and your family, we will call you and your references. At that time we will ask many questions and we hope you do too.

4. Reference Checks
As part of our adoption process, we conduct reference checks to ensure that our dogs are placed in safe, loving, and responsible homes. We ask for personal and veterinary references to gain insight into your experience with pets, your commitment to their care, and your overall readiness for adoption. This step helps us better understand your lifestyle and ensures that our dogs are placed with adopters who will provide them with a lifelong, loving home. Our goal is to support you through the process and make sure it's the perfect match for both you and your new furry friend.

5. Home Inspection
As part of our adoption process, we conduct a home inspection to ensure that your home provides a safe and suitable environment for your new furry family member. During the inspection, one of our volunteers will visit your home to check for potential hazards, assess the security of your yard, and discuss where your new dog will eat, sleep, and play. This step helps us match our dogs to the best possible homes and ensures they will be loved and cared for in a safe, happy environment. Our goal is to support you in providing a loving forever home, and we’re here to answer any questions you may have along the way

6. Meet And Greet & Adopt

Once your application is approved, we’ll arrange a meet-and-greet so you, your family members, and any current pets can spend time with the dog with their foster. Bringing home your new companion is a wonderful milestone, and being prepared will help everyone adjust smoothly. Before the big day, please gather the necessary items: a collar and leash, water and food bowls (take into account your dog’s age and any health conditions), treats, and a crate if you plan on using one. note that you’re responsible for traveling to the dog’s foster location, as we do not transport our Boxers to potential adopters.

If the meeting goes well and you decide to move forward, you’ll sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. At the time of adoption, each dog in our care has already undergone essential medical procedures, including at a minimum:

  • Rabies, DHLPP

  • Routine health exam

  • Spay/neuter surgery

  • Microchipping

Your adoption fee helps cover these expenses and supports the ongoing medical care for every Boxer we rescue. Your adoption contract with link to pay will be sent diitally, if that’s not feasible, we’re happy to find another method. Once the paperwork is complete, your new family member can head home with you right away.

*A portion of the adoption fee may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax adviser for details.
